A Summer of Gratitude

Child services staff enjoyed lots of summer fun with students, including trips to the Missouri River for fishing and picnics.

The summer of 2016 was filled with blessings for Child Services at Cheyenne River Indian Outreach!

We are thankful for so many good things:

  • Youth Works, a Christian volunteer group, came in and painted the living area of the Child Services Center
  • A special donation allowed us to purchase two televisions, a computer, wall décor and some games to enhance the living environment for the youth at the Child Services Center.
  • We were able to take students to an aquatic center for two days of swimming along with several fishing excursions and river picnics
  • Several youth attended week-long camps over the summer, including Lakota Immersion Camp at Sitting Bull College supporting Lakota language and customs; Leslie Marrowbone Camp supporting cultural values; football camp at Augustana College and more
  • We attended Art in the Park and Hometown Days festivities with students
  • Horsemanship
  • A trip to Devils Tower

While we had tons of fun, we are also grateful for the opportunity for our youth to volunteer in the community! They helped serve at the pancake feed and clean up after the Hometown Days celebration. Several community members shared that they were very thankful for our youth and their teamwork approach to helping out.

Way to go kids — you are having a positive impact on your community!

One other note of appreciation goes to the staff here at the Child Services Center. Thank you for all you do! Our teamwork approach has been a good example for the kids to observe and I appreciate your efforts.

Another big thank you goes to the donors who make our work possible. Together we are changing lives!

Enjoy the fall season,
Greg
